This carpet was fitted to these bullnose stairs in Colton nr Ulverston. They were pretty tricky to do but I think they look great.

This is a Crucial Trading Sisal Carpet fitted to a staircase in Cartmel. The landings were fully fitted and the stairs fitted as a runner with a cloth binding. The work took two days to complete.

Karndean Knight Plank with a bamboo design border. Fitted to a kitchen & diner in Barrow in Furness, it took 2 days to complete.

This is a Karndean floor, design Van Gough with a 30mm design strip laid diagonally in Ford Park Ulverston. Large kitchen/hall. The job took three days to complete.

This is a Mississipi Stripe stair carpet made by Crucial Trading. Fitted as a stair runner with bound edges. This was for a double staircase over three floors.  The landings and hallways were fully fitted and the stairs were done as a runner.  The work was completed over two days.

Coir
Made from the strong outer fibres of the coconut husk from the tropical beaches Sri Lanka and India, Coir is woven into a floor covering which has a lovely golden brown colour.

Jute
Made from the stalk of the giant Corchorus plant which grows in India, Jute fibres are naturally fine and soft.

Seagrass
Usually grown in Brazil or China, Seagrass is a relatively hard fibre compared to Coir, Jute or Sisal

Sisal
Originates from the Mexican port of Sisal but is now usually produced in Brazil. Sisal is quite tough and coarse.

Laminate Flooring has become extremely popular over the last 10 years or so as it looks great, is easy to keep clean and doesn’t wear or stain like some floor coverings. Cheap laminate flooring however is a false economy as it doesn’t look that good and takes longer to fit. Having tried most makes of laminate, I now recommend the flooring from Quick Step www.quick-step.com as providing high quality at a value for money price.

As many diy’ers will tell you, the tricky bits when fitting laminate flooring are around the edges of a room, where walls may not be square and door openings need to be dealt with. That’s where I can save you a lot of time and stress. I have the tools and skills to make your finished job perfect.

Laminate flooring is a composite material that simulates wood and has a tough top layer fused to a resin and fibre board base. The flooring ‘floats’ on the existing floor surface which should be flat. An underlay of foam or fibre tiles is generally laid first. The planks, which have a tongue and groove for fitting are laid on top and tapped together for a good fit. A 10mm gap needs to be left at the edges to allow for expansion. This gap can be covered either by lifting the skirting board prior to fitting, then dropping it back on top; or by fitting beading.

Once fitted, laminate flooring should be kept free of dust and dirt to avoid scratching. Minor liquid spills don’t usually cause any problems but should be wiped up as soon as possible.
